We purchased Bar Heels Jack from the
late Alan Melton in the fall of 1988 as a weanling off of his mom Kiki Heather. As a colt
'Jack' was curious and wanted to be your friend. He came up to us in the pasture and
wanted a scratch. He has passed that curiosity and friendliness on to his colts. We broke
Jack to ride as a two year old with little to no problems.
Cash used Jack in the spring
of his four year old year to help the neighbors work cattle. He would catch the horse in
the pasture and then ride on over to the neighbors from there. Jack has always been very
willing to please. He is a very quiet stud and doesn't bother other horses when you ride
in a group situation.
We are beginning to see the value of Jack as a
maternal sire as we are beginning to ride his grandchildren. What an encouragement to find
that we have been right about this horse and that his grandchildren are the same solid
minded, willing colts that their parents have been.
